When are disposable vapes being banned in the UK?

Disposable vapes are being banned in the UK on 1st June 2025. From that date all vapes must be rechargeable and have the ability to either be refilled with e-liquid or for the prefilled pod to be replaced.

Why are disposable vapes being banned?

There are two main reasons that disposable vapes are being banned; their environmental impact and their accessibility to those under 18 year of age.

It is estimated that 5 million single use vapes were being thrown away each week in the UK. Vapes contain plastics, metals and lithium-ion batteries, all of which are important resources that should not needlessly end up in landfill. The ban will ensure that all vapes are rechargeable and reusable so we should see a drastic shift in the number being disposed of.

Disposable vapes have also been seen as appealing to young people, and their low prices also make them accessible. It is hoped that a ban on disposable vapes reduces access to vaping products to those under the age of 18.

Do I have to refill a reusable vape with e-liquid?

Not if you don't want to. We offer a selection of prefilled pod kits that come prefilled with e-liquid so you don't have to refill them yourself. Once the pod is empty, simply switch it for a new prefilled pod rather than having to fill it with e-liquid.

Does a reusable vape taste the same as a disposable vape?

Yes! If you choose a reusable vape that uses prefilled pods you'll get exactly the flavour and experience as you would from the disposable versions. If you opt for a refillable vape you'll want to pair it with a nic salt e-liquid to match the flavour and nicotine strength of the disposables.

Are reusable vapes bigger than disposables vapes?

No! Well it really does depend on which device you select. If you opt for the latest rechargeable versions of the popular devices from Elf Bar, Lost Mary and Hayati, they are more or less exactly the same size as their disposable counterparts.

Refillable vapes are generally slightly larger than standard 600 puffs vapes, although they are still compact, pocket-friendly, and easy to use. Many refillable vapes are actually much smaller than big puff disposable vapes.

Do refillable vapes leak?

Are reusable vapes cheaper or more expensive than disposable vapes?

Reusable vapes are considerably cheaper than disposable vapes. Prefilled pod vapes now start at the same price as disposable vapes however, when you come to replace the pods, you'll find that these often come with two pods in a pack meaning they are twice as cost effective as buying the whole device again.

Refillable vapes are often slightly more expensive to buy initially, but the cost of purchasing e-liquid and replacement pods is significantly less expensive than buying multiple disposable vapes each week.

What is the best refillable vape?

This will really come down to personal preference but if you are new to using refillable vapes we would recommend choosing an inexpensive, easy to use device preferably without a screen or advanced customisations.
